Am I the Right Photographer For You?
Hey, I’m David – and I’m here to tell your wedding story in the most natural, heartfelt way possible.
I work with couples who want to feel completely at ease on their big day—no stiff poses, no pressure. Just genuine moments, real emotions, and a touch of creative guidance for those magical shots like sparkler exits, champagne sprays, or first looks. While you’re busy soaking up every second, I’ll be there—quietly capturing it all as it naturally unfolds.

A relaxed experience, start to finish
From the moment we first chat, my goal is to make you feel comfortable and supported. I get to know you as people, not just clients—so when the big day arrives, it feels like having a friend behind the camera rather than a stranger giving instructions.
I keep things calm and easy-going, gently guiding when needed but always giving space for the real story to shine. It’s about creating space for connection and joy—so your images don’t just look beautiful, they feel like you.
The little things matter
It’s not just the big moments I’m watching for—it’s the glance between you during the vows, guests wiping away a tear, or the cheeky kids dancing before the music even starts. I have an eye for the details and those fleeting seconds that might otherwise go unnoticed.
These are the images that you’ll come back to again and again. The ones that bring the emotion rushing back.

A Little More About Me
I live in Belper, Derbyshire with my wife Michelle, two sons, and our resident whirlwind, Tucker, the very hairy Patterpoo you’ll spot in some of my photos. We rescued him in 2021, and life’s been louder, messier, and a lot more joyful ever since. He has the energy of a toddler on a sugar rush and absolutely no off switch.
Choosing a wedding photographer is about more than liking someone’s work. You’re inviting a person into one of the most meaningful days of your life, someone who’ll be close by during the quiet moments, the nerves, the laughter, and everything in between. So this feels like a good place to share a little more about me.
I’ve loved Lego since I was a kid, and I’ve got no plans to grow out of it. When life feels busy or noisy, a quiet hour building something brick by brick is my version of switching off. There’s something grounding about slowing down and focusing on one small thing at a time.
I’m also a big fan of a packed dance floor. If Mr Brightside comes on, there’s a good chance I’ll be quietly mouthing the words behind my camera. I promise I won’t sing, if enthusiasm counted as vocal talent, I’d already be headlining Wembley.
My happy place is simple: fresh air, a camera in hand, and no pressure to perform. Just noticing light, movement, and moments as they unfold.
And then there are dogs. Always dogs. They’re basically walking, wagging antidepressants. A cuddle from Tucker can fix most things, and his chaotic charm was the reason DK9 Photography came to life, my dog photography brand. Capturing personality, whether it’s a couple or a four-legged whirlwind, is always what I’m drawn to.
I’m also a big comedy fan, though picking a favourite is impossible, it changes weekly. Having a teenage son means I’m currently fluent in chaotic sitcoms, quick-fire one-liners, and the art of laughing at things you don’t fully understand.
