Hello & Welcome to my Website

A Little More About Me

I live in Belper, Derbyshire  with my wife, Michelle, my youngest son and our Patterpoo Tucker who has been a much loved member of our family since we rescued him in 2021. He’s the hairy one in the photo and is our little whirlwind with more energy than a toddler on a sugar rush.

Choosing a wedding photographer who takes great photos is the easy part but you also want to know that the person following you around with a camera on the biggest day of your life, is  the right fit for you. To help with that here’s a few facts about me:

THINGS I LOVE

  • I love Lego, it was my favourite toy as a child and I’m not prepared to grow out of it any time soon. We all know how busy life can get and Lego is my go to place for a little bit of relaxation.
  • My favourite floor filler when it’s time for the evening celebrations is Mr Brightside, I do promise not to sing along though, if there was a competition for passion over talent, I’d be headlining at Wembley!
  • My other happy place after Lego is being out and about, whatever the weather, with my camera just taking photos for me.
  • Dogs! I haven’t mentioned my love of dogs yet, they are like living, breathing, tail-wagging antidepressants. A cuddle from our Tucker can brighten up the dullest of days and his antics never fail to raise a laugh. He is the reason I decided to set up DK9 Photography and I love nothing more than capturing their awesome personalities.
  • Talking of laughter, I am a massive comedy fan, I can’t name my favourite as it’s constantly changing, but having a teenage boy in the house means I am currently watching lots of The Inbetweeners and Friday Night Dinner.

AM I THE RIGHT PHOTOGRAPHER FOR YOU?

You may want to know how I work on your wedding day and that’s understandable as I know you might be nervous about being in the limelight with the addition of a camera following your every move.

I’ve got you. So many of my previous couples have had the same concerns, I specialise in transforming camera shyness into being comfortable in front of the camera to get the very best of you for your wedding album. I do this by simply being friendly and easy to talk to (my five star google reviews confirm this). I listen to what you want and the story you want your wedding album to tell. This is your wedding day, not my photoshoot.

My aim is to make you feel happy, confident and in love with your photos. I want you and your guests to feel relaxed whilst I take candid photos. I want you to enjoy sharing a few laughs with me and have photos that capture the real you.

I am a photographer who blends in with you and your guests. I’ve have been told I am like a guest with a camera and I love this analogy, if couples and guests feel this way I’m doing my job right. I also want you to see photos of moments you might have missed or perhaps didn’t even realise happened and can guarantee these will be amongst your favourites.

What I don’t want for your wedding day is a lengthy photo session that keeps you away from your guests. It’s my job to ensure you get portrait photos you love without interrupting the natural flow of your wedding day. I can be serious when I need to be to ensure efficiency when its time for group photos but my general demeanour is fun and happiness without the flamboyant displays of a photographers who wants to be the centre of attention.

From the moment you decide I am the photographer for you I am there should you need any advice, help finding suppliers or just a friendly shoulder should the planning get a bit stressful.

On the day itself I’ll be more than just your photographer and you can rely on me to provide tissues for the happy tears and give you reassuring words should the nerves kick in.

Practical as ever I’ll help with the buttonholes, let the kids take photos, bring a blanket if it’s chilly and most importantly work alongside your venue and suppliers. We are your own personal wedding team and want your wedding day to be everything you dreamed it would be.

So if you are looking for a photographer who will put you at ease, and capture stunning, relaxed, candid photos with a few formal ones as well then I would love to hear from you.

Bonus points if you love Lego and dogs, and I promise not to sing!
