Leicestershire Wedding Photographer
Your wedding day can feel like a lot, especially if you’re not comfortable in front of a camera.
I’m here to help you feel relaxed, present, and free to enjoy it.
Relaxed, Natural Wedding Photography in Leicestershire
Your wedding day should feel like you, joyful, relaxed, and filled with moments you’ll want to relive again and again. But if you’re feeling nervous about being in front of the camera, you’re not alone.
As a wedding photographer covering Leicestershire, I’ve captured love stories across elegant country estates, charming market towns, and rustic barn venues throughout the county. I specialise in making camera-shy couples feel completely at ease, so you can be fully present while I capture the magic.
Whether you’re celebrating in Leicester, the rolling countryside of Rutland, or anywhere across Leicestershire, I’ll be there, quietly capturing the story as it unfolds. No awkward posing. Just real emotion, meaningful details, and those in-between moments that make your day unforgettable.
If you’ve already found your perfect venue, amazing! I’d love to hear all about your plans and chat through how we can create a set of images that feel just like you. Let’s make some magic.

My Approach to Wedding Photography in Leicestershire
When it comes to photographing weddings, my approach is all about storytelling with heart. I capture the day as it naturally unfolds—those fleeting glances, quiet moments, and joyful outbursts that make your celebration uniquely yours.
Relaxed and Unobtrusive
I blend into the background, allowing you and your guests to feel completely at ease. No awkward posing—just real moments, beautifully captured.
Emotion-Led and Detail-Focused
From the proud tear in a parent’s eye to the lace on your dress, I pay close attention to the little things that make your day truly personal.
Creative and Artful
Whether it’s a sweeping drone shot of your venue or a touch of dramatic light as you share your first dance, I bring a creative edge to every frame—so your photos don’t just document the day, they elevate it.
Like when I captured Mike and Becky’s intimate moment in Rothley Court’s stunning chapel, using the natural light from the stained glass windows to create a cinematic atmosphere—or when I used subtle off-camera flash to frame Jade and Lewis at Rothley Court’s historic entrance, balancing the golden hour light with the warm glow of the stone architecture.
Why This Matters
Choosing a photographer with a relaxed and artistic approach means you can be fully present on your wedding day. You’ll look back on your images not just as a record of what happened, but as a true reflection of how it felt—captured with warmth, care, and creativity.

Kind Words from Couples Across Leicestershire
Richard and Jani – Rothley Court Hotel
“David was the only photographer we approached—the easiest wedding decision we made. Friendly, approachable, and responsive throughout. He understood our vision completely and worked with us to achieve it. His ability to capture magical, natural moments is exceptional. David and Lee put us both at ease on the day. The shots are absolutely stunning. We can’t recommend David enough—his work is phenomenal, and our photographs will be treasured forever.”

Hannah and Louis – Rothley Court Hotel
“David was our photographer in May 2024, and I’d wholeheartedly recommend him. From our first inquiry, he was friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate. We had an engagement shoot that helped us feel comfortable—something we were both nervous about. David’s relaxed, candid approach captured our wedding perfectly. The photos are even better than we could have asked for. Family and friends have commented on how naturally he captured the day, almost going unseen. We’re so glad we chose him.”

Spoilt for Choice
Leicestershire is full of a diverse range of wedding venues,
including grand halls, rustic barns, and charming country houses, offering settings for all
preferences and accommodating various guest capacities from intimate gatherings to large parties, indoor and outside.

Rothley Court Hotel
Rothley Court Hotel holds a special place in my heart, I’ve photographed multiple weddings here, and it never fails to deliver stunning moments. This historic hotel seamlessly blends Gothic architecture with contemporary elegance, offering both the intimate drama of the 13th-century chapel and the grandeur of the main house.
The chapel’s stained glass windows create incredible natural light for ceremonies, while the historic entrance with its stone archways is perfect for creative flash photography during golden hour. The grounds offer versatility, from formal portraits on the manicured lawns to candid moments in hidden garden corners.
Photography highlights: 13th-century chapel with stained glass, historic stone entrance, expansive grounds, elegant reception spaces
Mythe Barn
Mythe Barn is one of Leicestershire’s most sought-after wedding venues, and having photographed here, I can absolutely see why. This beautifully restored 18th-century barn combines rustic charm with contemporary luxury, exposed beams and original stonework sit alongside elegant modern touches, creating a space that feels both timeless and fresh.
The venue’s versatility is what makes it exceptional for photography. Natural light floods through the barn’s large windows during ceremonies, while the outdoor terrace and landscaped gardens provide stunning backdrops for couple portraits. As evening falls, the combination of festoon lights and subtle uplighting creates a magical atmosphere, perfect for creative flash photography and capturing those joyful celebration moments.
Photography highlights: Exposed beam ceremony space with natural light, landscaped gardens and outdoor terrace, dramatic evening lighting opportunities, rustic-meets-contemporary aesthetic.
The Pavillion at the Manor House
As a recommended supplier at The Pavilion at the Manor House, I’ve had the privilege of exploring this venue extensively, and I’m genuinely excited to photograph weddings here. This contemporary pavilion venue offers something truly special: a perfect blend of modern architectural design and beautiful natural surroundings, plus a unique feature that sets it apart from anywhere else in Leicestershire.
What makes The Pavilion extraordinary is its location next to the Great Central Railway, a working heritage steam railway with a station literally across the road. Imagine incorporating timeless steam train shots into your wedding day: the romance of vintage locomotives, clouds of steam, and that nostalgic atmosphere that adds a completely unique dimension to your photos. It’s a combination you simply won’t find at other venues, and it creates images with genuine wow-factor.
Beyond the railway, the pavilion itself is stunning. Clean architectural lines and floor-to-ceiling windows create a light-filled space, while the surrounding mature gardens and countryside offer incredible variety, from manicured lawns to natural garden areas. My drone work here has revealed just how beautifully the pavilion sits within the landscape, with the added drama of the railway cutting through the scenery.
Photography highlights: Heritage steam railway location (unique!), contemporary pavilion with natural light, mature gardens and countryside, stunning drone perspectives, architectural clean lines, timeless vintage train shots.
The Pumping Station
The Pumping Station is one of those venues that immediately sparks creativity, and having photographed a wedding here, I can tell you it delivers. This beautifully converted Victorian water pumping station offers something genuinely different: industrial heritage meets contemporary style, with original features like exposed brickwork, cast iron beams, and the stunning centrepiece beam engine creating a backdrop unlike anywhere else in Leicestershire.
What makes The Pumping Station exceptional for photography is the way light and architecture work together. The high ceilings and large windows flood the space with natural light during the day, perfect for ceremonies and candid moments. As evening falls, the industrial elements become even more dramatic, the warm glow of uplighting against brick and iron creates atmosphere that’s both romantic and edgy. The outdoor courtyard adds versatility, offering a completely different aesthetic for couple portraits and drinks reception shots.
The venue’s unique character means your photos will have genuine personality, there’s nothing cookie-cutter about The Pumping Station. Couples who choose this venue tend to have a creative edge themselves, and that energy translates beautifully into relaxed, joyful photography that feels authentically them.
Photography highlights: Victorian beam engine and industrial architecture, exposed brick and cast iron features, dramatic natural and artificial lighting, outdoor courtyard space, contemporary-industrial aesthetic, high ceilings and open spaces.

Tips for Planning Your Perfect Leicestershire Wedding
Wedding Budget
Determine your wedding budget early in planning and prioritise your spending. Be sure to enquire about venue hire fees, catering costs, and additional charges to avoid surprises later. When starting
your budget, always start with the essentials, the extras can be added later on if the budget can accomodate them.
Wedding Guest Numbers
Ensure the venue comfortably accommodates your guest list. Consider indoor and outdoor spaces for ceremonies and receptions, particularly if you plan a summer wedding. You don’t want the venue to feel overcrowded, neither do you want it to look empty. If planning an outdoor ceremony ask the venue what their bad weather plan is, some venues may host more than one wedding at the same time.
Wedding Style
Your wedding venue should reflect your unique style and personality. Whether you’re drawn to a grand historic building, a rustic barn conversion, or a contemporary space, Leicestershire offers a variety of options to suit every taste. Many venues have their own in-house venue stylist, try to meet these early on so that if they can’t match your vision you have time to find an alternative stylist.
Accessibility
Make sure your venue is easily accessible for all your guests, with ample parking and good transport links. If onsite accomodation isn’t available what are the nearby options for guests who may be travelling a long distance.
Wedding Catering
The catering at your wedding can significantly impact the overall experience for you and your guests. From formal sit-down dinners to relaxed buffets or creative food stations, explore the venue’s catering options and ensure they align with your vision and dietary needs. Most venues are able to cater for everything from a formal wedding breakfast, through to buffets and street food.
FAQ’s
Do you travel to all Leicestershire wedding venues?
Absolutely! I cover the entire county, from the Peak District to Derby city centre and everywhere in between. I’ve photographed weddings at venues across Leicestershire and love discovering new locations.
What if we’re camera-shy?
This is my specialty. Most of my couples tell me they feel awkward in front of the camera, and by the end of the day, they forget I’m even there. I use gentle guidance rather than heavy posing, and I’ll make sure you feel relaxed and natural throughout.
Do you offer engagement shoots in Leicestershire?
Yes! Engagement shoots are a brilliant way to get comfortable in front of the camera before the big day. The Peak District offers stunning backdrops, or we can explore locations that are meaningful to you.
How quickly will we receive our photos?
You’ll get a sneak peek gallery within 48 hours, and your full wedding gallery is typically delivered within 3-4 weeks.
What’s included in your wedding packages?
All my packages include full-day coverage, a same-day slideshow during your reception, professionally edited high-resolution images in an online gallery, and personal printing rights. My premium packages also include engagement shoots and luxury storybook albums. View full pricing details here.
Do you have backup equipment?
Yes, absolutely. I carry backup cameras, lenses, and lighting equipment to every wedding. I also have multiple memory cards and backup batteries. I’m prepared for anything!
Can we choose which photos go in our final gallery?
You’ll receive every photo from your day that meets my quality standards, typically 400-600+ images depending on your package and timeline. I carefully curate and edit each one, so you don’t have to spend hours selecting. However, if there are specific moments you’d like to ensure are captured, just let me know beforehand.
Do you work with a second photographer?
For larger weddings or couples who want maximum coverage, I work with Lee, my trusted second photographer. This ensures we capture different perspectives simultaneously, perfect for ceremonies, speeches, and those moments happening in multiple places at once.
What happens if you’re ill on our wedding day?
While I’ve never had to miss a wedding due to illness, I have a network of trusted professional photographers I’d call upon if the unthinkable happened. Your day would still be covered to the same high standard.
How far in advance should we book?
Popular dates (especially May-September Saturdays) book up 12-18 months in advance. If you’ve found your perfect venue and date, I’d recommend getting in touch sooner rather than later. That said, I occasionally have last-minute availability, so it’s always worth asking!
Do you take photos during the ceremony?
Yes! I photograph your ceremony discreetly from the side or back, capturing all the key moments, vows, ring exchange, first kiss, without being intrusive. Some churches and venues have specific photography restrictions, which I always respect and work around.
Can family and friends take photos during the day?
Of course! I love when guests capture their own memories. For the ceremony, I’d gently suggest an “unplugged” approach (guests put phones away) so everyone’s fully present and I can get clear shots without phones in the way. But it’s entirely your choice!

Different Types of Wedding Photography
It can easily get confusing when looking at the different styles of wedding photography. From
documentary through to fine art and even film, read on and I’ll try to demystify it for you.
Traditional
Traditional is more focused on capturing all of the key moments and formal family photos.
This can mean that more spontaneous or candid moments are missed. However, it is seen as
a timeless way to capture a wedding.
Fine Art
Concentrates on producing magazine worthy photos of your wedding, perfect if you really value the aesthetic of your wedding. However, and as with traditional, this may mean that those candid unstaged moments get missed.
Documentary
Documentary concentrates on telling the story of the day as it unfolds with very little in the way of posing you and your guests. An advantage of this style is that it captures more of the emotions of the day and moments that other wise might get missed. Whereas there might be a little less emphasis on posed and formal photos with the couple having to rely on the photographers eye.
Vintage
Vintage (film), for those couples who really want to go old school! This style evokes nostalgia and often has softer colours. A photographer experienced in film photography is obviously a must!
