A Romantic Summer Wedding at Rothley Court | Leicestershire Wedding Photographer

Few places capture romance quite like Rothley Court. Set in the heart of the Leicestershire countryside, it’s the kind of venue that feels timeless, where history, elegance and warmth come together perfectly. As a Leicestershire wedding photographer, I’ve photographed countless love stories here, but Jade and Lewis’ summer wedding was something truly special: sunshine, laughter, and heartfelt emotion from start to finish.

Jade & Lewis’ Story

Jade and Lewis’ story started close to home, quite literally. Lewis was a long-time family friend who worked with Jade’s dad, and over the years, friendship slowly grew into something more. By Christmas morning 2021, surrounded by family, proposed, the perfect festive surprise to kick off their next chapter.

The Vision for the Day

Their dream was simple but meaningful: to bring together their favourite people and create memories they could relive for years to come. There wasn’t a strict theme, just a wish for a beautiful, sunny day (which they got!) and a venue with historic charm to set the scene.

Rothley Court was the perfect match, with its timeless features, lush grounds, and a package that offered everything they needed, including on-site accommodation. The couple’s priorities were clear from the start: finding the right photographer (no pressure there!), enhancing the venue’s natural beauty, and keeping within their budget.

The Wedding Planning Journey

Like many couples, the trickiest part of planning turned out to be the guest list, that delicate balance of space, budget, and wanting everyone you love to be part of your story.
The easiest part? Booking their favourite suppliers early and knowing they were in safe hands.

Jade’s advice for anyone in the planning phase:

“Prepare in advance, have a realistic budget, and secure your preferred suppliers early to avoid disappointment!”

And the dress? She found the one just two weeks after booking the venue. It was the last dress she tried on, the emotional moment she saw herself in the mirror, with her mum and maid of honour by her side, sealed the deal.

The Ceremony: A Moment to Remember

Not seeing each other the night before was tough for a couple who are rarely apart, so that first look down the aisle was powerful.

“As soon as our eyes locked, the emotion followed. Everyone else disappeared and it was just us in that moment.”

Their favourite part of the ceremony was exchanging vows and rings, that symbolic start of forever, in front of their children, family, and closest friends.

The Celebration at Rothley Court

The reception was pure joy, laughter, dancing, and a room full of people celebrating love. The best man’s speech had everyone in stitches, while the couple’s first dance to ‘Nosedive’ by Post Malone was heartfelt and deeply personal.

One of the night’s biggest hits was the bottomless photo booth, which kept guests entertained and left everyone with brilliant memories to take home.

Capturing the Day | Rothley Court Wedding Photographer

Jade and Lewis first met me at a Rothley Court open day, and from that first chat, we just clicked. They both said they felt instantly comfortable, and a few months later, when I recognised them at another open day, it confirmed they’d made the right choice.

On the day itself, it was all about keeping things natural, capturing real moments as they unfolded rather than anything forced or overly posed. Jade later told me:

“David & Lee made us feel so comfortable without it feeling like there was constantly a camera in our face. The natural photos are our favourites.”

Their gallery ended up with hundreds of images, but one that stood out was our dusk shot in the chapel, a creative moment unique to their day, and one we were all thrilled with.

Final Reflections from Jade & Lewis

If they had to describe their wedding in three words?
Special. Wholesome. Amazing.

Their parting advice for future couples:

“Work together in creating the most special day to look back on.”

A Little Note from Me

Jade and Lewis’ wedding was everything I love about this job, full of laughter, emotion, and genuine connection. Rothley Court’s historic charm provided the perfect backdrop, and it was a privilege to capture their day exactly as it unfolded.

And of course, one of my favourite moments was showing them their same-day slideshow, seeing those first reactions while the party was still in full swing is always something special.
