A Vibrant Hindu Wedding in Leicestershire: Billy & Rasshmi’s Colourful Celebration
Some wedding days feel like a single chapter… and others feel like an entire book of love, colour, culture and unforgettable moments. Billy and Rasshmi’s celebration was very much the latter.
With five beautifully curated events, a Vedic Hindu ceremony, a countryside reception, and a touch of Barcelona woven throughout, their wedding journey was a joy to photograph. If you’re planning a colourful cultural wedding and looking for a Leicestershire wedding photographer who loves storytelling at its heart, this one’s packed with inspiration.
How Their Story Began
Billy and Rasshmi first met at work, a simple beginning that soon blossomed into something extraordinary.
Fast forward, and Billy planned the perfect proposal in the Botanic Gardens of Barcelona. Overlooking the city, surrounded by nature and sunshine, he asked a question that brought them to the wedding celebrations you’ll see below.

A Vision of Colour, Culture & Connection
Their dream was clear from the beginning: five intimate wedding events, each filled with colour, meaning, and the warmth of traditional Indian celebrations.
The thread tying everything together was their Vedic Hindu ceremony, rooted in symbolism, community, and shared food with loved ones. For the reception, they added a personal twist by incorporating Barcelona-inspired touches throughout the styling.
Why They Chose Their Leicestershire Venues
For the ceremony, the couple selected a temple that offered everything they wanted, a spiritual, welcoming space with a sense of modesty and peace.
Their reception venue was chosen for its open countryside setting and its reputation for exceptional weddings. The backdrop created the perfect blend of big-day grandeur and relaxed rural charm.
The Joys & Challenges of Planning Five Events
Planning a single wedding is a marathon… planning five is heroic. Their biggest challenge? Relying on multiple businesses and teams to pull everything together across the celebrations.
But the part they loved most was following their vision and adding thoughtful details to each event, choosing exactly what felt meaningful to them.
A little Canva magic even helped with their e-invites!
Wedding Morning Emotions
Seeing each other for the first time that morning was a moment of pure joy, a quiet realisation that they’d arrived at such an important milestone in their journey together.
Heartfelt Ceremony Highlights
Their favourite part of the ceremony was understanding each meaningful step, expertly guided by their priest, Shyam. And of course… the wonderful food afterwards, shared with all the people they love.
A Reception Filled With Music & Magic
Their reception was a feast of emotion and detail
From their announcement as Mr & Mrs to a live string quartet playing as they dined at the head table… it was everything they had envisioned. Speeches, laughter, and guests coming together across cultures made it a celebration to remember.
Their First Dance Song
The couple chose “You Send Me” by Sam Cooke — a nod to their shared love of that era of music and the groom’s favourite singer. They even recreated a beautiful choreographed dance they’d fallen in love with.
A Beautifully Unexpected Moment
One standout surprise? Billy’s speech, which ended with him performing a self-penned song on guitar for Rasshmi and all their guests. A moment no one will forget.

Handcrafted Details That Made the Day Theirs
Billy and Rasshmi added so many personal touches:
• Handmade table arrangements
• Individual name cards
• Personalised favours
• Themed reception tables
• And of course, Billy’s heartfelt musical performance
All of it came together to create a celebration that felt unmistakably theirs.
Suppliers Who Made the Magic Happen
Billy and Rasshmi couldn’t have been more complimentary about their priest, Shyam, who guided them so gently through their ceremony.
Find out more about Shyam here.
And I’m incredibly grateful for their kind words about me as their photographer, and for mentioning the same-day slideshow I shared with them and their guests right after the registry ceremony. It was such a joy to surprise them with those first glimpses of the day.

Choosing Their Leicestershire Wedding Photographer
We first met at a friend’s wedding just after their engagement. From the start, they felt comfortable, connected and confident that their photos would be in safe hands.
Regular catch-ups, relaxed conversations, and joining their planning journey early on made everything feel smooth, collaborative, and exciting.
Their Favourite Photos
When your gallery contains several hundred images, choosing a single favourite becomes almost impossible — and for Billy and Rasshmi, it truly was.
But the images that stood out most were those from the Hindu wedding ceremony, filled with bright, rich colours and cultural detail.
Three Words to Describe Their Day
Vibrant. Traditional. Enchanting.
And honestly… I couldn’t put it better myself.
Final Thoughts
Looking back on Billy and Rasshmi’s celebrations still fills me with so much joy. Their warmth, their traditions, their colours, and the way they welcomed everyone into their world made it such a privilege to photograph. One of my favourite moments was surprising them with their same-day slideshow — seeing their reactions, and their guests gathered around reliving those first moments, is something I’ll never forget. Weddings like this remind me why I love what I do: the storytelling, the connection, the little moments that unfold so naturally.
