Jaimey and Ash, high school sweethearts with a penchant for unforgettable moments (like near-flat-burning proposals!), embarked on their wedding journey with a vision that blended modern elegance and rustic charm. Their love story culminated in a magical celebration at The Ashes Barns, where laughter, happy tears, and Chelsea blue intertwined to create a day as unique and special as their bond.

The Love Story and Proposal

Jaimey and Ash’s love story began in the hallways of their high school, a testament that true love can blossom at any age. Their journey culminated in a heartwarming proposal in August 2017, set in the cosy confines of Jaimey’s flat. Ash, in a moment of romantic fervour, almost set the flat ablaze while spelling out “I love you” with candles – a story they’ll undoubtedly recount for years to come to their two gorgeous boys and maybe even their Grandchildren!

The Wedding Planning

What was your overall vision and theme for the wedding day?

A mixture of a modern and rustic wedding, whilst because of Ash’s love of all things Chelsea FC the main colour them was blue

What were your top three priorities when planning your wedding?

  • The venue had to be perfect!
  • Somewhere that all our friends and family were able to get to smoothly
  • Making sure that our children (Bailey and Riley) were a part of it

What made you choose The Ashes Barns?

The layout was just beautiful, the views were priceless, and the menu was suited to what we wanted, which wasn’t a fancy fine dining meal. The bar had an excellent choice of drinks too, very important for us and our guests.

Describe your planning journey

The most challenging aspects of wedding planning were finding the perfect wedding dress and ensuring that we had all the necessary funds available to meet the payment deadlines.

As the wedding day approached, seeing all the pieces fall into place allowed us to finally breathe and relax.  I found Bridebook to be a really helpful tool throughout the planning process.

If I could offer any advice to other couples, it would be to cherish every detail and moment of planning because the wedding day itself goes by in the blink of an eye. Even though it can be overwhelming at times, it’s important to remember that the effort you put into planning your special day will create memories that last a lifetime.

The Wedding Day!

Describe the moment you first saw each other on your wedding day.

When I first saw Ash it was like no one else was there all the panic and stress went and it was as though it was just me and him in the room getting married all I could do was look into his eyes and know that our childhood dreams were coming true.

What was your favourite part of the ceremony?

Instead of going straight in for the kiss when we were announced husband and wife, we did our handshake, it went to perfection!

What song did you have for your first dance and why that one?

We had Oasis – Slide Away the acoustic version. It’s such a beautiful song the lyrics are so meaningful and of course Ash is a huge Oasis fan and it’s one of the things I let him choose (along with Chelsea blue)😂

Was there a funny or unexpected moment that happened during the day?

Yes, when my dad walked me down the aisle, he slipped on my wedding dress. It was brilliant!

The Wedding Photos

How did you find me and what made you want to book me?

Horrendous😂 joking! You were absolutely brilliant and we were so chuffed we knew we had to book you when we met you whilst photographing Jack and Erin’s wedding, especially being able to have a laugh and joke with you as that’s who we are.

Your wedding gallery contained Just under 600 photos. Which one was your favourite and why?

It’s hard to pick just one! I’d have to say the umbrella photo in the dark it was such a magical touch and came out beautifully.

What elements of your wedding were you most proud of, and were there any suppliers that exceeded your expectations?

The suppliers all exceeded expectations, and we were proud of the seating plan and brochure we made ourselves. I also had a unique and personalised element on my bouquet: a chain with two pendants containing my grandad’s and uncle’s ashes.

Final Thoughts

If you could describe your wedding day in three words, what would they be?

  • Magical
  • Faultless
  • Life changing
